On the occasion of the launch of the new Ergo 08L model, Martin Vernay, co-founder of ErgoConcept, delivers some information on the company’s motivation to invest in a new range of folding electric wheelchairs.

You are deploying a range of light and compact folding electric wheelchairs, why did you choose to complete your offer with the E08L model?

ErgoConcept is a family business created in July 2014, with my father, Jacques Vernay. We are pioneers in the development and distribution of lightweight folding electric wheelchairs. At the launch of the company, we marketed only the Ergo 07L, which was a real innovation in the offer proposed to people with disabilities and reduced mobility. At that time, there was no wheelchair as light and compact as the Ergo 07L.

In December 2018, Eliane and Didier Laville celebrated Christmas in Senegal. Even if, having lived there for 2 years, they well know Africa, they want to return there as often as possible. Since Didier’s have bought the Ergo 07L wheelchair to make his travels easier, they can now organize their escapades without difficulty. Testimony:

How did you discover ErgoConcept?

Eliane: Whereas we were on vacation, we heard about the existence of a light, foldable electric wheelchair. It immediately caught our attention, and as soon as we got back, we contacted our medical equipment advisor in Aubagne. He then introduced us to the Ergo 07L model, which immediately appealed to us.

 Active woman and in love with her city, Paris, Sylvie Larrede acquired her very first electric chair, the Ergo 07 model, a few months ago. A difficult but healthy decision for Sylvie, who explains that she experienced it as a “rebirth”. Meeting with a luminous woman.

How did you find out about ErgoConcept?

After a long period of one year, which was very difficult, because I’ve been informed that I had an illness that would gradually make me less independent. As my upper and lower limbs were rapidly weakening, it seemed essential to me to find an electric mobility solution. At that time, social security and my occupational therapist directed me to a manual chair, to which I could have added an electric adapter, but I felt I needed something lighter, I couldn’t see myself walking around Paris in an 80 kg chair! Also, there are a lot of places not accessible in the Capital. So I hesitated between an electric wheelchair and an adapted scooter. I contacted the Handicap.fr network by email for advice. They directed me to two brands of wheelchairs, including ErgoConcept, and told me that the scooter was not recommended because of the position of my hands.

We recently had the pleasure of sharing a day with Hélène and Pierre to discover the daily life of this funny and charming couple. Faithful users of ErgoConcept solutions, they agreed to open their home doors and let us film their usual activities (buying bread, using the elevator, taking the car…). A unique opportunity to better understand the problems encountered by a person with reduced mobility and its caregiver.
